Eligibility for writing the exam
- The candidate needs to be an Indian citizen, a Tibetan refugee, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a migrant from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Malawi, Uganda, Zambia, Vietnam, Zaire, the United Republic of Tanzania, and Ethiopia with the intention of permanently settling in India.

How is the exam conducted?
The SSC CGL exam is a three-tier exam. Tier 1 is computer-based, and the questions are from Reasoning, Quantitative aptitude, English, and General knowledge. Tier 2 is a descriptive paper in pen and paper mode where candidates are asked questions related to Essay and Letter writing. Tier 3 is to test the speed of typing skills of candidates.
